2018 Porsche 911 GTS | Euro Spec | Reputable Dealership
An immaculate car. Perfect paint, strong mechanicals, flawless interior. We were genuinely struggling to find anything to flag.
Then we ran the VIN.
The number on the exterior and the number inside the ECU did not match. After cross-referencing the appropriate databases, the car had been flagged as stolen in Italy the previous year. It had made its way out of Europe, VIN altered, straight onto a UAE showroom floor.
And the mileage. Dashboard and ECU both showed 37,000 KM. The report showed 75,000 KM. We suspected a replacement ECU was fitted with those values.
Outcome: Our client walked away on the spot. Had he proceeded, he would have legally owned stolen property with falsified mileage.
2024 Genesis G80 | Korean Spec | 18,000 KM | Ajman
Low mileage, new car, great price. The seller even volunteered that there had been a minor accident — the kind of honesty that makes a seller seem trustworthy.
Our paint thickness meter told a very different story. Readings across multiple panels were all over the place. The chassis showed serious structural deformation. This wasn't a parking tap. The car had taken a significant hit, been cosmetically patched, and was being sold as near-mint.
Outcome: Our client walked away. That damage affects safety, resale value, and potentially your life.
2015 Toyota Camry | GCC Spec | 147,000 KM | Small Dealer
Looked straightforward enough. The moment our inspector started it — black smoke from the exhaust. Proper black smoke. We hadn't even moved yet.
From there it unravelled fast. Transmission leaking. Engine oil seeping. Coolant turned rusty brown from years of neglect. Worn engine mounts. Multiple electrical systems not working. Our strong suspicion: a former taxi or fleet vehicle cleaned up and relisted as a private car.
Outcome: The client walked. The repair bill would have dwarfed the purchase price.
This is a normal week for our team. Whether you're buying a daily commuter or a six-figure sports car, a pre-purchase inspection is the best money you'll spend before a purchase.
