Used Car Inspection Checklist for UAE Buyers

1. Exterior Body & Paint

• Walk around looking for dents, scratches, and uneven panel gaps
• Check paint consistency across all panels - mismatched shades indicate repainting
• Look for overspray on rubber seals, trim, and door jambs
• Inspect all glass for chips and cracks
• Check headlights and taillights for moisture
• Examine wheel rims for curb damage
• Use a paint thickness gauge to detect hidden bodywork

2. Engine Bay

• Look for oil leaks, coolant leaks, and overheating signs
• Check all fluid levels and colors
• Inspect belts and hoses for cracking (Dubai heat degrades rubber quickly)
• Check battery terminals for corrosion and battery date

3. Interior & Electronics

• Test all power windows, mirrors, locks, and seat adjustments
• Check A/C performance (weak A/C in Dubai = AED 2,000-5,000+ repair)
• Look for dashboard warning lights
• Check for water damage in carpets

4. Under the Car

• Look for rust, corrosion, or flood damage signs
• Check for fluid leaks
• Inspect exhaust system
• Look at frame for accident damage or welding

5. Test Drive

• Listen for unusual engine noises
• Test braking - should stop straight without vibration
• Check transmission shifts
• Drive over speed bumps to test suspension
• Test steering at low and highway speeds

6. Documentation

• Verify VIN matches registration card (Mulkia)
• Check registration expiry and outstanding fines
• Review full service history
• Verify mileage against records
• Check for outstanding finance
