The best inspection is the one that actually happens.
Short answer: for the vast majority of used car purchases in the UAE, a mobile pre-purchase inspection covers everything a buyer needs, at the location the car already is, without asking the seller to release it. A workshop inspection on a lift adds real value in a small number of specific cases, mainly when there's already a known suspected fault that needs a hands-on teardown to diagnose.
A mobile inspector travels to wherever the car is: the seller's home, a dealership yard, an office car park, or a public meeting point. They bring the same equipment a workshop would use for a pre-purchase check: a paint thickness gauge, an OBD-II scanner, tyre tread and brake measuring tools, and a checklist covering well over a hundred points depending on the package. The car never has to leave the seller's control before you've paid for it.
To be fair to garages: a four-post lift gives a slower, closer visual pass underneath the car than working from ground level with a torch. For most pre-purchase checks that difference doesn't change the outcome, because a borescope camera (included in our Stress Free package) reaches the same underbody areas a technician would examine from below. Where a lift genuinely earns its place is when a specific fault is already suspected, for example a confirmed oil leak that needs to be traced to its exact source, or a transmission that needs to be dropped partway to inspect internally. That's diagnostic repair work, not a pre-purchase inspection, and it isn't something either a garage or mobile visit does as standard.
If you already suspect a specific fault: Get the mobile pre-purchase inspection first. If it flags something that needs a deeper mechanical look, your inspector will tell you exactly what to ask a workshop to check next, so you're paying for a targeted diagnosis instead of guessing.
Mobile inspection pricing in the UAE starts at AED 299 (incl. VAT), with most regular used cars inspected under the AED 397.95 Sleep Easy package in around 90 minutes. Moving a car to a workshop rarely costs less once you add fuel, time off work, and in some cases a towing fee if the seller won't drive it there themselves. The mobile inspector's time is usually the only cost, because there's no facility overhead to charge for.
If a car has a transmission that needs to be partially disassembled to confirm a suspected internal fault, or a suspension noise that only appears under load on a rolling road, that's specialist repair diagnosis rather than a buying decision check. In those rare cases, use the pre-purchase inspection findings to negotiate a lower price or a pre-sale repair, then decide separately whether a deeper mechanical workup is worth it for a car you've already committed to.
Book a mobile inspection at the car's location — No towing, no moving the car, no asking the seller for a favour. Our inspector comes to you anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman or Abu Dhabi.
