A suspension and steering check tests the parts that control ride comfort, handling and grip, looking for worn or damaged components that affect safety and tyre wear.
The suspension and steering systems keep the car stable, comfortable and pointed where you want it to go. They include shock absorbers, springs, bushes, ball joints, control arms, tie rods and the steering rack. When these wear out or are damaged, the car feels loose, bouncy or vague, and tyres wear unevenly.
Inspectors check for clunks and knocks over bumps, excessive bouncing after the car is pushed down, play in the steering, and a pull to one side while driving. They also look underneath for leaking shock absorbers, split bushes, damaged ball joints and signs of impact from kerbs or potholes.
UAE roads add their own stresses. High-speed highway driving, speed bumps, kerbs and occasional off-road or desert use, especially in SUVs and pickups, all wear suspension parts. Poor road surfaces in some areas can damage components earlier than expected.
Worn suspension and steering are a safety matter as well as a comfort one, because they affect braking distances and control. Many parts are wear items that can be replaced, so an inspection that lists what is worn helps you budget repairs and negotiate a fair price.
