The Patrol is everywhere in the UAE — which also makes it one of the most cloned, modified and mileage-tampered cars in the used market.
The Nissan Patrol is the unofficial car of the UAE. It is one of the best-selling vehicles in the country, and the used market is full of them — from nearly-new agency cars to hard-used desert runners with 300,000 km and a freshly rolled odometer. Knowing what to look for is the difference between getting a solid family SUV and inheriting someone else's problems.
Most Patrols in the UAE have done one or more of the following: towed a boat or horse trailer, gone dune driving, carried a full family across long highway routes, or sat in desert heat for years. The mechanical stress from any one of these shortens the life of cooling systems, suspension, and transmissions. Combine that with a used-car market where sellers know the Patrol commands strong prices, and you have a vehicle category where hidden issues are common.
Odometer tampering is more common on Patrols than almost any other model we inspect: Because Patrols hold their value strongly, sellers have a financial incentive to roll back high-mileage examples. We compare physical wear against digital mileage on every Patrol we inspect and flag inconsistencies clearly in the report.
The Y62 generation (2010 onwards) is the most common in the UAE used market. The 5.6-litre V8 is the engine to prefer — the 4.0 V6 is less powerful for the weight and can strain under heavy use. The Platinum and LE trims command strong premiums but also carry more electronics that can fault with age. Avoid any Patrol that cannot demonstrate a continuous service history at an authorised dealer.

GCC-spec Patrols have a stronger cooling system calibrated for regional heat and are easier to service at Nissan UAE dealerships. Imported Patrols (often US, Canadian or Japanese spec) may have different cooling thresholds, limited agency-service eligibility and weaker resale value. We verify the specification on every inspection.
Negotiation on used Patrols: On Patrols with mileage above 100,000 km, our customers regularly negotiate AED 5,000 to 12,000 off the asking price using inspection findings. Even a clean Patrol usually needs a service, new tyres or worn bushings — factor that into any offer.
